One of the major backbones of a film is the background score, which can make or break the entire film. There have been several instances where the music of a film saved the entire film, and background scores putting a film in an entirely different ballpark.
With that being said, Tollywood is currently suffering from a dearth of music directors, with Thaman and Devi Sri Prasad being the only notable names, with Mickey J Meyer being the occasional addition. Thaman and DSP are undoubtedly the star music directors and, as such, are being over-saturated by filmmakers most of the time. DSP has very few films these days, as his tunes are being considered routine, and his bgm is being highly criticized.
On the other hand, while Thaman’s bgm is being praised a lot, his songs are a hit and a miss. With so many projects in hand, the music director is also now being criticized for not delivering on time.
