The passing of Manoj Bharathiraja has deeply saddened the Tamil film industry. He suffered a cardiac arrest leaving behind his dream of becoming a top director like his father Bharathiraja.
Though he wanted to establish himself independently made his directorial debut in 2023 with Margazhi Thingal.
One of Manoj’s biggest aspirations was to direct Sigappu Rojakkal 2, a sequel to the 1978 cult classic. He developed the script 13 years ago, but the project faced repeated hurdles and never took off.
The original Sigappu Rojakkal, starring Kamal Haasan and Sridevi remains an iconic Tamil film. With Manoj’s passing the future of the sequel is uncertain.
However his daughter has shown an interest in filmmaking, raising hopes that she may fulfill his dream.
