The Advice That Helped David Dhawan Return To Filmmaking

Veteran director David Dhawan is set to end his filmmaking journey with Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Varun Dhawan said that his family once believed David would never direct again because of health issues.

However Anil Kapoor encouraged Varun to support his father’s return to the sets, reminding him that filmmaking had always been David’s greatest passion.

Varun said his father never considered himself just a comedy director. Instead he focused on creating complete entertainers with romance, emotion, drama, action and humor.

He added that the emotional strength of films like Aankhen, Coolie No. 1 and Biwi No. 1 is what made them so much successful.

According to Varun, David’s humor always felt natural and connected well with viewers. Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai stars Varun, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde.
