In this coming-of-age tale, a 32-year-old romantic who has always been unlucky in love settles for an arranged marriage. She invites her ex-boyfriends to her engagement ceremony, where she had her first orgasm by the conclusion of the wild night. The evening ends up becoming a trip of reflection and investigation into love and feminine pleasure.

Story: Kanika Kapoor (Bhumi Pednekar), a 32-year-old lady who is still hunting for a partner who can satisfy her sexual urges, is the subject of director Karan Boolani’s movie. She accuses herself of being a “defective piece” after being unable to locate one.

Kanika resolves to wed a wealthy but normal man since she is sick of being called unflattering names and is convinced she will never have a fairytale romance. Will she eventually meet her prince charming, who will woo her and fulfill her sexual desires? As the narrative progresses, she encounters additional uncertainty during a situation at her roka (pre-engagement) ceremony that causes her to wonder whether her fiance or one of her ex-lovers is the appropriate one.

Performances: Bhumi Pednekar is ideally portrayed as a woman who unknowingly inherited her mother’s determination and feminist spirit. She is an example of someone who struggles with self-doubt and exhausts themselves but won’t budge on who she thinks is eligible. Although her lovers serve as a constant reminder of her strength, it feels more sluggish and appears only occasionally. Dolly Singh and Shibani Bedi, who play her BFFs, are humorous and provide strong performances in emotional passages as well. Kusha Kapila is also excellent in her brief part as one of the stereotypical unpleasant females. Anil Kapoor is delightful to see as both Gulzar Saab’s adoring fan and Kanika’s much older lover (and her minus one after their breakup). Shehnaaz Gill does a good job portraying a confident young woman who openly acknowledges that a female should pursue pleasure.

Analysis: The romance between Radhika Anand and Prashasti Singh is more than simply a sex joke. It discusses topics that are rarely spoken in our society, even behind closed doors, such as peer pressure and how women should accept not having an orgasm. It also raises these delicate issues while being very gorgeous and humorous. When you observe what practically everyone goes through as fiercely independent women, from teens like Kanika’s best friend Tina Das’s (Shibani Bedi) daughter to even senior single women like her mother, Dr. Kapoor (Natasha Rastogi), it can at times be maddening. In addition, the film is full of humorous one-liners like “GST nahin, apni maang bhar,” and Kanika’s propensity to fall for both older and younger men from “wheelchair to pram.”

Technicalities: The movie is obviously well-shot, exudes grandeur, and tells the ideal story for all ladies out there, but it is also so much more since it questions what’s considered to be normal because “what is normal and who decides it?” In a scene with Bhumi, Kanika’s mother asks, “How will the body be happy if the mind and heart are not at peace and happy?” Dusro ki khushi hamari issue nahi hai, she says as things get out of control and out of control, and there are countless other sentences that hit home with you and make the movie highly relevant.

There is a scene in the film when Bhumi dances with people she has been dating and acts liberated while discussing her options and how “happily ever after gaya bhaad me, happily chalega” (happily ever after gaya bhaad me, happily chalega).

The songs by Ritviz and Anuv Jain significantly enhance the sequences that they play at and at the perfect moment. The script for the film was written by Radhika Anand Prashasti Singh and directed by Karan Boolani. The screenplay is humorous, clever, and of course, significant where it needs to be. The direction is all things grand, and you adore the whole vibe that the movie gives off.

Verdict: The film, which frequently has bawdy imagery, uses female pleasure to spread the message of self-love. The s*x comedy is entertaining and worth seeing for its daring and little-explored premise.
