SS Rajamouli Warned this Actor for his Overacting

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan believed Laal Singh Chaddha would be a commercial triumph despite numerous warnings.

After Laal Singh Chaddha, which was released in August 2022, failed to do well, Aamir Khan startled his fans by announcing that he would take a hiatus from acting. The movie, which also had Kareena Kapoor Khan in the key role, failed to win over both the audience and the critics. After the fiasco, the Bollywood superstar even quit the remake of the Spanish movie “Campeones,” saying he wanted to spend more time with his family. However, there were accusations that he was unable to accept Laal Singh Chaddha’s poor box office performance. Advait Chandan directed the movie.

Aamir’s cousin and director Mansoor Khan previously referred to the perfectionist’s performance as “over the top” in the Bollywood rendition of the beloved Hollywood film “Forrest Gump.” But he has now said that Aamir was also told by director SS Rajamouli that he was “overacting” in the movie.

Mansoor Khan reminisced about his interaction with Aamir Khan and said, “Aamir has a terrific sense of humour. He then chuckles as he says, “When you told me it was excessive, I responded, ok, you are a subtle guy so I can see why you could have felt that way. Nevertheless, I thought to myself, “Isko bhi lag raha hai toh kiya hi hoga,” when someone like Rajamouli told me that I was overacting.

Mansoor Khan, who had helmed the “3 Idiots” actor’s 1988 superhit debut “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” (QSQT), asserted that he was “frank enough” to provide Aamir with his feedback well in advance of others. I enjoyed the script, he remarked. Atul Kulkarni, the author, did a good job, in my opinion. Yes, I think Aamir overdid it with his expressions. I don’t want to imply that the character is a jerk, has dyslexia, or anything else. He is a little strange, but that’s about all.

“I loved Tom Hanks in the original (Forrest Gump), because he was so restrained in his expressions and in how he portrayed the character,” Mansoor continued. Of course, I told Aamir about this.

However, it appears that Aamir Khan was unable to accept anyone’s viewpoint—not even that of the “RRR” director—until the public response for the 2022 movie was announced. Aamir has reportedly always felt that a “good movie will work come what may,” according to Mansoor, the son of renowned producer-director Nasir Hussain. He continued, “He informed me that if the movie is good, it will succeed despite calls for a boycott. A setback for him was the failure of “Laal Singh Chaddha,” but he has experienced many other disappointments in his life, both professionally and personally. He is driven to work harder since he loves films so much.

Mansoor stated, “I don’t like making films,” when discussing his personal experience in the industry. I appreciate how things worked out or how it happened. However, I have always known that this is not my permanent trip.
