Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt while attending the teaser launch of the Kannada film KD, shared his thoughts on the current state of Indian cinema.
He said that South Indian films are leading the way right now while Bollywood is struggling to keep up. According to him the Hindi film industry has lost its creative spark and hasn’t yet recovered from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Once considered one of the biggest film industries in the world, Bollywood is now more focused on box office numbers than passion or storytelling.
“Bollywood has lost its passion. Everything is about numbers now. I hope it bounces back very soon,” he said.
Despite being a major Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt has been actively working in South Indian films in recent years.
His upcoming film is The Raja Saab with Prabhas and his career in Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada cinema is currently seeing great success.
