The shoot of Shraddha Kapoor’s biographical film Eetha has been stopped after she got injured while performing a tough Lavani dance scene.
The incident happened during an energetic sequence meant to show the strong stage presence of folk legend Vithabai Narayangaonkar, whom Shraddha plays in the film. The choreography involved very fast steps to Ajay–Atul’s high-tempo music.
Shraddha, dressed in a Nauvari saree and heavy jewellery had to perform continuous quick movements. She had also gained over 15 kilos for the role. During one step she put too much pressure on her left foot, lost balance and hurt herself.
Director Laxman Utekar immediately paused the Nashik schedule. Shraddha suggested shooting close-up scenes instead, so the team moved to Madh Island, but the pain increased, and the shoot had to stop again.
The team will resume after two weeks. Randeep Hooda has also joined the film as the male lead. Eetha tells the inspiring story of Vithabai Narayangaonkar, Maharashtra’s legendary folk performer.
