Director Shankar has spent over two years in the making of his upcoming big-budget flick, Indian 2. The film, as reported earlier, is a sequel to the superhit film of the same name, which released in 1996. On February 19, the entire cast and crew were in a state of shock when a crane crashed on top of three technicians. Director Shankar had a narrow escape and nearly after a week, he has opened up about the entire incident. His tweet on the accident has received a lot of attention as he said that it would have been better if the crane had fallen on him instead of his crew.
His tweet read, “It is with utmost grief, I’m tweeting. Since the tragic incident, I’ve been in a state of shock & having sleepless nights on the loss of my AD & crew. Having missed the crane by a whisker, I feel it would’ve been better if it was on me. Heartfelt condolences & prayers to the families (sic)” Assistant director Sri Krishna (cartoonist Madhan’s son-in-law), art assistant Madhu and production assistant Chandran died on the spot. Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal and their stylists had a miraculous escape as they were just a few meters away from the crash site.
