Bollywood star Akshay Kumar’a film, Selfiee co-starring Emraan Hashmi in a key role had a theatrical release yesterday. Opened to below-par reports, the film failed miserably to generate minimum revenues. Along with domestic circuits, the film failed to make minimum noise at overseas.
As per the trade reports, Selfiee gives a rude shock to everyone who thought all is well. Reportedly, the film witnessed only Rs 2 crore gross at the Indian box office. An Akshay starrer opening with ₹2 crore is an epic embarrassment for Bollywood cinema and filmmakers. As public are more smarter now, one needs to take things seriously and make films. Will the makers stop settings projects just because the stars have market? Remains to be seen. The scenario says wake up or lose relevance.
Coming back to Selfiee, apart from Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, Selfiee also stars Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty in the female lead roles. The film is an official remake of the acclaimed Malayalam film, Driving License. Raj Mehta is the director for Selfiee.
