Santhanam, who has mostly taken on lead roles in recent years, is making a rare return to a supporting comedy role in Simbu’s upcoming film STR 49.
His last film as a hero, DD Next Level, didn’t perform well at the box office. This shift is notable because Santhanam had earlier moved away from comedy to focus on his career as a lead actor.
In a recent interview, he shared that he agreed to do this comedy role only because of Simbu, saying, “I can’t do comedy in every film like before; I said yes just for Simbu”.
Following this, reports suggest that Santhanam is also in talks to join Jailer 2, the highly anticipated sequel starring Rajinikanth.
Though it’s not officially confirmed, fans are excited to see if he’ll make another exception. If finalized, this could mark another strong comeback to comedy, delighting fans of both Santhanam and Rajinikanth.
