Venkatesh and Anil Ravipudi’s third film is Sankranthiki Vasthunam. Touted to be a family entertainer, the promotions of the film have impressed the rural audience. In fact, this is the film that created the most buzz among the three films released for Sankranthi. The songs also penetrated the masses. Let’s see how impressed Anil Ravipudi is.
Story: Akella (Avasarala Srinivas), the CEO of a big company, is kidnapped. Meenakshi (Meenakshi Chowdary) comes to Rajahmundry to field Y.D. Raju alias Chinnaraju (Venkatesh) with the special recommendation of the Chief Minister to save him. Happy with his four children and a good wife Bhagyam (Aishwarya Rajesh), the little king begins a mission to save the axles along with the family. What were the problems encountered in that order? How did the Raju-Meenu-Bhagyam gang overcome them? is the story.
Performances: Venkatesh’s comedy timing is nothing new. His comedy in the role of a small king impresses the family audience. Especially in the climax fight scene, Venky’s acting & dialogues worked out hilariously. The second hero of the film is Revanth who lived in the role of Bulli Raju. From the first press meet, I wondered why you were giving so much build-up to this boy. Senior Naresh & VTV Ganesh’s combination comedy has worked out here and there. Aishwarya Rajesh and Meenakshi Chaudhary’s scenes are more impressive than their performance. Especially the scenes in which Venkatesh is crushed between the two of them have exploded well.
Technical Aspects: The songs composed by Bheems are already a blockbuster and the background music is also good with the background music. Sameer Reddy’s cinematography work is decent. In the case of production design & artwork, he was very careful. Why are you thinking of too many realistic sets for the comedy zoner film? Wrapped in polishes on the surface. So technically it was not very entertaining.
Analysis: Director Anil Ravipudi doesn’t care much about the fact that humor can also be natural or ripe. So audiences from all walks of life will not be able to enjoy this humor. It would have been better if the “Guru Dakshina” episode in the climax had been better established.
In the middle of the comedy, he did not want that serious episode but .. In the climax, he left it. This is an episode with a good finger. If it had been used properly, it would have been a plus for the film. If so, Venkatesh, who comes in the pre-climax, has engaged the audience well with the frustration fight.
Anil Ravipudi’s target audience is different, so even if it seems to be a cringe to some, Anil doesn’t mind it at all. Anil Ravipudi is a director who has clarity on the pulse of the audience as a director. That’s why the film is filled with plenty of comedy that the audience wants from him.
The Sankranthi holidays, and then Venkatesh’s film in theaters, that too is a family comedy entertainer. Overall, as a director and a writer, he is okay with the marks. Sankranthi has put a burden on the festival. This is a calculated risk that works out statistically.
Verdict: Overall, Sankranthiki Vasthunnam is a decent comedy that is made for its target family audience. As the film has loads of comedy, it will be a perfect watch this Sankranthi season though has predictable moments.
