Samantha struggles between fact and fiction

Samantha Akkineni is one of the most highly talented actresses in India currently. She has acted in several films in Telugu and Tamil and is all set to make her Bollywood debut and digital debut with the second season of the highly acclaimed The Family Man web series on Amazon Prime. The trailer for the series saw Samantha playing a suicide bomber who hails from Tamil Nadu.

Post the release of the trailer, Tamilians, and even the Tamil Nadu government, have expressed their objection to the way that Tamil Eelams are being depicted in the show, and called for banning the show. The TN government wrote a letter to the I and B Ministry, requesting the Ministry to ban the show and not stream it anywhere in the country.

While the show continues to be promoted by Amazon Prime and its actors, and with no ban seeming to be imposed, Samantha is currently under a lot of heat about her character in the show. People are trolling her on social media, calling her shameless, while others are coming in support of her, saying that she’s only playing a fictional character, and is not disrespecting the Tamil culture. Samantha has been asked to stay away from commenting on the issue by Amazon Prime, but with the issue getting bigger, it is now to be seen if the actress will release any statement.
