Ravi Teja Mahadasyam, who gained good popularity through YouTube short films, introduced himself as the protagonist in the film “Sagileti Katha”. Directed by Rajasekhar, the film stars Vishika Kota as the female lead. A rural drama set in the backdrop of Uttarandhra, this film is presented by actor Navdeep. And has this village drama been able to impress the audience or not? Let’s see..!!
Story: Sagileru village elders, Chaudappa and Doraswamy scolded and beat them for the village fair. Kumar (Ravi Mahadasyam) and Krishna Kumari (Vishika Kota), who are in love with each other due to their closeness, fall apart. How did the Kumar-Kumari couple who got separated due to the commotion in the fair meet again? How did their love prevail? is the plot of “Sagileti Katha”.
Performances: Ravi Mahadasyam, who proved himself as an actor in short films. Careful manner in accent and body language is commendable. Heroine Vishika Kota is also involved in the role. Her slang & bold dialogue are entertaining. In the case of the announcement of gestures, it needs to be more mature. Narasimha Prasad, who is the main character in the movie, seems to be fine. Rajasekhar Aningi lived like never before.
Technicalities: Rajasekhar, who handled the crucial duties of direction-cinematography-composition, kept the scenes that seemed to lag unedited because of his love for the story he had written. Also.. as a cinematographer with an extreme love for RGV frames & angles, the tight close shots he tried to disturb the audience watching the movie on the screen.
Especially in the chicken song, the close-ups of the curry making are intense. As a director, Rajasekhar felt no problem. Whenever the audience feels bored that he is stretching it unnecessarily, he moves the story forward with good twists. Despite the unexpected twists, the slow-moving story and the camera quality, which is inferior to short films, have become a major minus of the film.
Although Jaswant’s songs are good, the background music, dubbing & re-recording has become a minus. The less we talk about technicalities like production design, artwork, and CG work, the better.
Analysis: “Sagileti Katha” is a film with good scope as a story. If this movie was made with good technicalities, it would have been a good hit. But.. due to poor camera work, an engaging story, and unimpressive character arcs.. failed to impress the audience.
Verdict: Although the film is a good effort, it has to be said that due to the work of the director, cinematographer, and editor, Rajasekhar, good content could not be produced.
