Saamanyudu Movie Review and Rating!

Action hero Vishal’s action drama, Saamanyudu under the direction of Thu.Pa.Saravanan has hit the screens today. Let’s analyse it.

Story: A common man named Porus (Vishal) lands in huge trouble when his sister goes missing. After an intense search, his family tracks that she dies under mysterious circumstances. Who kills Porus’s sister? Being a normal guy with an aim to become a cop, how will Porus track the culprits behind his sister’s death? Forms the rest of the story.

Performances: There is nothing specific to mention about Vishal’s acting as he did the same usual acting which we had has done earlier. A somewhat better thing in the film is that Vishal performance in a couple of action blocks in the second half brings authentic flavour for the movie.

Comedian Yogi Babu as the hero’s friend evokes decent fun at parts. Heroine Dimple Hayathi has been not utilized properly and her screen time is also limited to a couple of scenes.

Actress Tusali did a good job as a middle-class mother. Actor Chembolu Raja did his negative shaded character decently.

Other artists who played supporting roles are okay with their acting.

Technicalities: The cinematography by Kavin Raj is good as he showcased the entire film with his lens in a realistic way. Editing work by NB Srikanth lacks fine-tuning.

Surprisingly, music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is a bit let down as none of the songs and background music registers. The production design is okay and so is the case with the production values by Vishal Film Factory banner.

Analysis: Thu.Pa.Saravanan directs Saamanyudu. While the director’s idea of showcasing the hurdles being faced by common people in society is okay, he would have taken enough care in presenting the film with an engaging narrative.

The ages-old storyline and outdated execution come as a major demerit for the film. Instead, if the director has worked on writing a solid screenplay version at the scripting stage itself, the result would have been surely better.

To summerize, Saamanyudu is an outdated action drama that has a predictable narration and regular template screenplay. Even targetted mass audiences will disappoint big-time after watching the film.
