Rukmini Vasanth, one of Kannada cinema’s rising stars, is gaining attention nationwide with big upcoming projects. One of them is “Kantara Chapter 1,” the prequel to the blockbuster Kantara.
Directed by Rishab Shetty, the film will release on October 2, 2025. On the occasion of Varalakshmi Vratam, the makers revealed Rukmini’s first look from the movie.
In the poster, she appears as Kanakavathi, a regal princess, while Rishab Shetty returns as the male lead.
Produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films, Kantara Chapter 1 is already among the year’s most awaited films.
Kantara became a pan-India hit for its gripping story Rishab’s performance and direction and Ajaneesh Loknath’s music.
The prequel will release in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam at the same time.
