Ranveer Singh has often landed in controversies even when he did not intend to hurt anyone. At the IFFI festival in Goa last month he praised Rishab Shetty for his strong performance in Kantara.
However while expressing his admiration Ranveer tried to imitate Goddess Chamundi on stage. This act upset a section of Kannadigas and Hindu audiences. Rishab Shetty had reportedly advised him earlier not to make such gestures but Ranveer still went ahead.
The situation became worse when Ranveer referred to Goddess Chamundi as a female ghost which triggered strong backlash everywhere.
After this he shared an apology saying he never meant to disrespect any culture or beliefs. Later Rishab reacted at a Chennai event stating that imitating divine elements in public makes him uncomfortable.
He also said the Kantara team has repeatedly requested people not to casually recreate divine references. This incident shows how sensitive faith-related matters can be.
Rishab Shetty had stopped Ranveer Singh from imitating the deity off the stage, not once, but twice
But Ranveer did it on the stage, and the people sitting with Rishab were not even amused
Could Ranveer Singh have done this with any other religion except Hinduism? pic.twitter.com/QM5J6zVz3m
