Priya Prakash Varrier says Onam is all about joy, traditions and spending time with loved ones. She usually celebrates with her mother’s family and memories with her late grandfather are especially close to her heart.
This year’s Onam will feel different without him. For Priya, Onam is not about relaxation but about making time for family, following traditions, and enjoying the little things.
She recalls watching her grandmother make beautiful pookkalams while her cousins joined in. Even now, her family makes sure to come together for Onam, no matter where they are.
Priya also hosts gatherings for friends with onasadhya, payasam, traditional attire, and fun games like tug of war and uriyadi. Being a vegetarian, she loves the sadhya, especially her mom’s semiya payasam.
For attire, she usually prefers the Kerala sari but sometimes tries fusion outfits for comfort during celebrations with friends.
A journalist asked #TejaSajja why he often brings religion into his films?#TejaSajja : No one questions filmmakers when they keep making the same love stories over & over again. What we’re doing is presenting our Dharma & morals in a cool way that today’s generation can connect… pic.twitter.com/Z5TISwhp8X
