Pradeep Sarkar (68), a filmmaker, has died. On March 24, at 3.30 a.m., he breathed his last. Sarkar directed “Parineeta,” “Laga Chunari Mein Daag,” “Mardaani,” and “Helicopter Eela.” He was on dialysis, and his potassium levels had plummeted. He died in a hospital after being rushed there after his condition deteriorated at 2:30 a.m. Today, funeral arrangements were made at Mumbai’s Santacruz crematorium. Sarkar’s film industry colleagues received the news of his death and awoke to a sad morning, stunned by the filmmaker’s untimely death.
Sarkar’s death was confirmed by actress Neetu Chandra. She revealed he was her first director, and they collaborated on an advertisement for a TV channel while she was still in college. Neetu had a close relationship with Sarkar and his sister Madhu, who cast her in a commercial for a footwear brand. This morning, Neetu received a text message informing her of Sarkar’s death. Pradeep Sarkar began his filmmaking career with brand commercials. Before making his feature film debut with ‘Parineeta’ in 2005, he directed several popular music videos.
On Twitter, Ajay Devgn wrote, “The news of Pradeep Sarkar’s demise, ‘Dada’ to some of us, is still hard to digest. My deepest condolences (flower bouquet). My prayers are with the departed and his family. RIP, Dada.” Hansal Mehta also took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Pradeep Sarkar. Dada. RIP.” Sharing Hansal’s tweet, actor Manoj Bajpayee wrote, “Ohh! That’s so shocking! Rest in peace, Dada!!
