With respect to the cinema-going culture, the North and the South are divided by a wide chasm, as they both differ in various ways when it comes to the levels of adoration of their actors, the fan bases, and everything else. This chasm has gotten wider now, post the pandemic, with Bollywood audiences not as forthcoming as the South audience, when it comes to going to the theatres.
While films have been releasing on a back to back basis in the Southern states, especially in the Telugu states, Bollywood has been more careful and cautious, with only a handful of films having been released in theatres so far. Of those films as well, the advanced bookings for films haven’t been stellar, with just the exception of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Even Rajamouli’s RRR is not seeing promising advanced bookings currently.
On the other hand, the advanced bookings for the film in the Telugu states and other states have been more than spectacular. It is being said that the bookings for the film might pick up from the second or third day in the North, as has been the case with most of the films released after the pandemic.
