For a very long time, for several decades, movies and politics have gone hand in hand, with film actors turning to politics after retiring from films, or being active in both at the same time. Some legendary actors have even become highly successful chief ministers , like NTR, MGR and Jayalalithaa, all of whom managed to impress the audiences on screen and off screen.
While it’s been quite some time since any other actor has become that successful in politics, there are several actors who are pursuing politics right now, with varying degrees of success. The best example for this is Powerstar Pawan Kalyan and Nandamuri Balakrishna. While Pawan founded his own party in the form of Jana Sena, Balakrishna worked as the MLA of Hindupur, under the TDP government’s regime.
Megastar Chiranjeevi also tried his hand at politics a few years ago, by founding his own party, Praja Rajyam Party, which he alter dissolved in the Congress, after he wasn’t able to win a decent amount of seats in the general elections. Despite the mixed response from the public to film actors as politics, the trend of film actors turning politicians hasn’t stopped yet, with both the industries continuing to go hand in hand.
