NTR, who is celebrating his 29th birthday today, made his acting debut as a child artist in his grandfather’s film Brahmarshi Viswamitra. He then made his debut as a leading man in Ramayanam, in 1997, as Lord Rama. At the age of 18, he marked his re-entry as a leading man, with Ninnu Choodalani, in 2001. It was in this year that his film Student No. 1 was also released, which turned out to be a box office smash. NTR followed up his success with smash hits like Aadi and Simhadri, with the latter creating box office records in Tollywood at the time.

At that point, NTR was barely 20 years old, but he was already a superstar in the eyes of his fans. His following was so immense that ahead of the release of his film Andhrawala, thousands of people flocked in to just get a look at him. He was the youngest superstar in the industry, something that hasn’t happened again in Tollywood. After Aadi and Simhadri, NTR faced a lot of flops for a few years until Rakhi was released in 2006.

He followed up Rakhi with Yamadonga in 2007, which turned out to be the actor’s career best film. He wowed the audience with his iteration of his grandfather’s famous dialogue, which he reportedly got okayed in just a single take. While there were hits and flops after Yamadonga, the actor has successfully delivered only hits in the last few years, with his last six films turning out to be box office gold. NTR not only proved himself as one of the finest actor’s in the country in all of these films, but has also time and again reminded everyone, with his performances, why he is loved so much by his fans, and why he is adored by his directors.
