It was announced some time ago, that National Cinema Day would be celebrated across the country on the 16th of September. However, the day has now been shifted to 23rd September, when tickets would be available for just Rs. 75 in all multiplexes across India.
The latest information to come out regarding this is that this ticket price would only be relevant to multiplexes in North India, and that the multiplexes and other theatres in South India would be sold at the normal prices that they are usually sold at.
It is being said that this is not going to be possible in South India, due to licensing and administrative limitations. This comes as a huge bummer, considering that it’s supposed to be National Cinema Day, and the ticket price limitations being relevant to only the Hindi belt makes it anything but.
