Director Shankar’s Indian 2 (Bharateeyadu 2 in Telugu) starring Kamal Haasan has been progressing at a brisk pace. As reported earlier, the team is shooting for the film at a set erected in the EVP Studios in Chennai. On February 19th night at around 9:30 PM, the team had mounted heavy camera equipment’s on to a crane and started the shoot for the day. Unfortunately, the crane collapsed and three technicians died leaving 10 injured. They were rushed to Saveetha Hospital where Kamal Haasan and team urged the doctors to treat the injured. Krishna (assistant director), Chandran (art assistant director) and production assistant Madhu breathed their last. It is said that Krishna is the son-in-law of cartoonist Madhan.
Reportedly, Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal and costume designer Amritha Ram had a narrow escape. Ulaganayagan took to Twitter to offer his condolences and said that he had faced several accidents in life but nothing was as painful as losing three young friends. The shooting came to a halt. Rumours were doing the rounds that director Shankar had fractured his legs. However, sources close to the film’s team has confirmed that the news is not true. He might have sustained minor injuries.
