Mem Famous, a small film starring Sumanth Prabhas in the lead role has generated good buzz among the audience with its kind promotional stuff. Directed by Sumanth Prabhas himself, the movie has hut the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.

Story: Mahesh, aka Mahi (Sumanth Prabhas), and his group of friends always bring a bad name to the village. This leads to their parents hanging their heads in shame. The film’s basic story is about how the group became famous by overcoming hurdles and making their families and loved ones proud, forms the crucial crux.

Performances: Sumanth Prabhas has done a passable job of looking confident for a debutant. He gets through most of the proceedings with this tough guy with attitude. His screen presence is an advantage for the film.

On the flip side, there are hardly any emotional scenes, and the drama as well is done flatly without any high moments. There is a heavy influence in dialogue mannerism with subtle attitude and body language which suggest a heavy influence of a star hero.

Saarya is the heroine in the movie. However, she has a small role compared to the rest of the boys and barring a scene towards the end, it lacks any impact.

Others artists did an okayish job in their respective roles. Artists such as Mani Aegurla, Mourya Chowdary and Siri Raasi are fine with their given prominent roles.

Technicalities: The music composed by Kalyan Nayak’s fits well with the setting and the proceedings even though, on its own, they don’t have long-term appeal. The background is alright, serving the purpose of pushing the appropriate emotions.

Shyam Dupati’s visuals are neat as they capture the village locations nicely which are rustic yet appealing. The dialogues are impressive as they apt to the proceedings and enjoyable.

Srijana Adusumilli’s editing could have been better. The editing would have definitely been an advantage for the movie.

Production values for this limited budget movie are okay and so is case with production design work.

Analysis: Sumanth Prabhas not only acts as the lead but also directs the movie. It’s his debut, and he has picked a relatable subject concerning the youthful subject.

The opening block sets the tone for things to follow neatly. The injury post the cricket match and the hoodwinking followed by the fight everything looks natural yet has the ‘cinematic’ enjoyment factor all along. It’s this combination that does the trick for the movie as a whole.

The director takes time to establish the various characters but doesn’t make it too much of a drag by simultaneously providing fun at regular intervals. It arrives with the writing, which is sharp, and the actors deliver the punches.

The story kicks in midway through the first half. It is utterly predictable without any novelty. Similar stories involving aimless youth have come in the past, too and give a outdated feel. But, the director succeeds to extend in projecting the issue with writing due to which it provides the movie with its freshness in presentation.

To summarize, Mem Famous a youthful entertainer that had its heart in the right place but not that impressive with the execution part. Except for a few comedy scenes are well written but the rest the proceedings are dragged with lackluster screenplay and emotions that don’t work.

Verdict: Youthful entertainer that fails to deliver!
