Kannappa is Manchu Vishnu’s most ambitious and expensive film to date. With extensive research and a huge budget, the film has been crafted on a grand scale.
Due to Vishnu’s past box office track record, distributors offered lower prices for both theatrical and non-theatrical rights.
Instead of compromising, Vishnu took a bold decision to retain all rights and release the film himself taking full financial risk.
The film features star power with Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal and Sarath Kumar in key roles. Prabhas who appears for around 35 minutes in the second half is expected to attract audiences on the release day.
Though he worked without taking payment, his absence from the film’s promotions is felt, as his presence could have boosted the buzz further.
In a time when most filmmakers avoid risk, Vishnu’s decision is brave. Kannappa is all set to hit the screens this Friday.
