Plot:: Poorna (Naga Chaitanya) falls deeply in love with Anshu (Divyansha Kaushik). But their teen love is met with a sad ending that lets Poorna dive deep into a world of sarrow ignoring his one true love, Cricket.
But for him, luck smiles in the form of Sravani (Samantha Akkineni), his wife. Even though her parents oppose her decision to marry, Poorna, she convinces and even accepts his rejection. Will they ever find love between them? If they can, how will Anshu still be a part of it? Watch the movie in a theatre near you for answers …
Performances:: Naga Chaitanya as a performer is improving with each film and the depth in his eyes and pain in his voice are highlights of this performance. He changed his body language from highly careful teenager to a reckless middle-aged man, which is commendable.
Samantha Akkineni could dominate each and every scene when she is in company with an ensemble. When she is in the company of Chay, their chemistry seems to be the real glue than writing even.
Atul Kulkarni, Rao Ramesh, Suhass, Subbaraju are very good in their scenes. Posani Krishna Murali is the life of the second half. Divyansha Kaushik and a young girl, who played Meera are good too.
Technicalities:: Vishnu Sarma’s cinematography is brilliant in a few scenes and very scathy at others. He should have concentrated on avoiding deep focus shots that did suffer from motion blur more than expected in the final output. On the whole, he did a good job in producing visuals that please the eye of a normal viewer.
Gopi Sundar music for the movie is a major flaw. Except for one song, rest don’t even register fine. SS Thaman’s background score elevated the feel of the movie.
Prawin Pudi as an editor could have tried to avoid some harsh transitions and give the overall movie a rhythm that is more conclusive. At times, several scenes look to have been cut harshly to adjust the length.
Shiva Nirvana, the writer, and director of the movie managed to keep the proceedings simple at the same time engaging. He never left the premise of romance between two strong individuals driven by heartbreak. In a way, Anshu-Sravani-Poorna is all heartbroken at some point or the other and they crave for love only, in their life.
When they finally find it, even nature celebrates it. This is the kind of poetic justice Shiva Nirvana gave to the story in his hand and he even made it all look real and worthy of following even though we can guess the next step. He mesmerized us to believe in the characters and delivered a solid piece.
Analysis:: The movie follows a routine path but deviates from trodden destinations. The beats seem all similar but they are executed in a different way. The dialogues keep the screenplay moving and the energy on the screen is positively radiant. The director amazingly could make us not fall into deja-vu and in the second half, the way he used comedy to lighten the heavy stuff is commendable.
Majili is engaging because of the performances. While the writing is complimenting them it is also engaging enough on its own. The only flaw in the movie is that few sequences are left without a proper closing and if that would have been tightened, the movie could have been a must watch classic. Nevertheless, the movie is highly enjoyable in theatres with families.
