In Indian cinema, regular stories are no longer enough to bring people to theatres. Viewers now expect something fresh and exciting which is why sequels, crossovers and cinematic universes are gaining popularity.
The latest example is Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra which is running strongly in theatres and surprising everyone with its collections.
Directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, the film has already become a hot topic with its visuals, storytelling and consistency at the box office. Trade experts say it is racing towards major milestones, a big achievement for a superheroine film.
With this success, Lokah is turning into a brand across Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil markets. The team confirmed it will be a five-part series, and the first film’s opening scene already gives a hint about the main villain.
This success proves audiences are ready to embrace new genres, making Lokah a potential cinematic universe for Indian cinema.
