All over Southern India and Hindi Film Industry, there were and are movies, that have set records tumbling and pushing the lead actors as Stars. The films of greats like ANR, NTR, Krishna, Shivaji, MGR, Rajkumar, Prem Nazir also were unable to record one such record even though they were the trendsetters for many records that have become common as fan wars these days. These greats films, played at theatres for one year if they were tremendously successful, conquered records in playing stations for 50 days, 100 days and re-release 100 days. If a film in their era was initially flop during its first phase, there was a chance that they could become hits or blockbusters too upon their second phase of release a few years later.
Then the mantle went into the hands of charismatic stars like Kamal Hasan, Rajnikanth, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Mammotty, Mohan Lal and Bala Krishna. They fought with all vigor among the languages they represented and few off their films even achieved great success in other languages and threw a challenge for other to repeat such magic. If not with their immediate films, they would come on top with their other films.
But none of the others were able to repeat one record that ANR was able to achieve until Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Legend came along. The movie is on its way to achieve a never ever heard before run in Archana Theatre Proddutur in Kadapa. The movie is going for a 1000 days run and this will be the only South Indian Film to achieve such feat. Dilwale Dulhania Lejaayenge is the only longest running film in India which is still running even after 21 years in Maratha Mandir, Mumbai. It broke the Sholay’s record off running for 6 years since its release.
