Legal Trouble For Sanjay Dutt’s Ballr Nightclub

The Bombay High Court has passed an order against Sanjay Dutt’s Pune nightclub, Ballr, over the unauthorised use of copyrighted music.

The nightclub, owned by Sanjay Dutt and Heramb Shelke, was taken to court by Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) India. PPL alleged that its copyrighted songs were being played without a valid licence.

During a visit on June 24th several popular songs were found playing at the venue. The court noted that Ballr had earlier obtained a music licence but it had expired and was not renewed.

The High Court has now stopped the nightclub from playing songs from PPL’s music library without a valid public performance licence. PPL said it will continue taking action against venues that use copyrighted music without permission.

Sanjay Dutt has not yet commented on the matter.
