Raghuvaran B.Tech became a big hit in Telugu through its dubbed version and brought huge popularity to Dhanush. Initially the film was planned as a Telugu remake with Ram in the lead role.
But at the last moment the makers dropped the remake idea and decided to release the dubbed version instead. Director Kishore Tirumala who wrote the Telugu dialogues for the dubbed film recently shared this story while promoting his upcoming film Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi starring Ravi Teja.
At that time Ram had two films in discussion, Nenu Sailaja and Raghuvaran B.Tech. The team wisely chose Nenu Sailaja first which turned into a big box office hit.
This decision also helped Raghuvaran B.Tech succeed with Telugu audiences warmly welcoming Dhanush and making him an instant star. Many believe the remake might not have worked due to comparisons with the original.
By stepping back Ram avoided that risk. Later, Ram and Kishore Tirumala teamed up again for Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi and are planning another collaboration.
