Savitri is not just a legend in Indian Cinema, but a memory to many Telugu Cinema lovers. She is the epitome of Telugu beauty and Telugu lady on screen. Her performances have made feel as she is their own lover, own sister, mother, daughter, and Queen. A lady that they see in their lives every day and that made many run to theatres to catch one glance of her.
She rose to such heights that even in a complete men-dominated Industry, a single poster of her could result for a rush at ticket windows. ANR, NTR, SVR and many big legends pushed her as an actress in early stages and later she even eclipsed them in fame and as an actress. ANR talked very fondly about her in his many interviews and he is very truthful in crediting the biggest blockbuster ever produced in Telugu Cinema, Mayabazaar as her film, even though he, NTR and SVR played major parts and it is an ensemble film.
Mahanati, the biopic of Savitri life looks to bring this aspect of rise in her career and ultimate fall through the viewpoint of an 80’s young journalist, Madhuravani, played by Samantha Akkineni and Vijay Devarakonda is playing her friend and fellow researcher. Keerthy Suresh is playing as Savitri and a small teaser is released on 14th April. Nag Ashwin seemed to have all the sincerity to bring back the memory of Savitri with Mahanati. Dulquer Salmaan is playing as Gemini Ganeshan and the movie is releasing on 9th May. It is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies.
