“Karuppu” Makers Say No Intent To Disrespect Ilayaraaja
Suriya’s latest film “Karuppu” is performing well at the box office and has given the actor much needed success after a series of setbacks.
However the film recently faced little controversy over a dialogue referring to music composer Ilayaraaja.
The dialogue, which appeared in the second half of the film, mentioned Ilayaraaja’s copyright issues in a satirical manner and received criticism from many. Following the backlash the makers removed the dialogue from the movie.
Production house also released an official statement expressing deep respect for Ilayaraaja and his contribution to Indian cinema and music.
The team said that there was no any intention to disrespect or hurt the composer in any way. According to the film team the dialogue was part of a broader satirical scene and not a personal remark.
