Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Samantha starrer Tamil film, Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal had a simultaneous release in Telugu as Kanmani Rambo Khatija today. Let’s see how it fares.
Story: A couple of incidents which happen in his childhood, make Rambo firmly decide that he is an unlucky fellow. Even after crossing 30-year age, Rambo leads a single life without any relationships. This is the time two beautiful ladies in the form of Kanmani ( Nayanthara) and Khatija ( Samantha) come into Rambo’s life. How will Rambo’s life take a new turn after the entry of Kanmani and Khatija, forms the rest of the story.
Performances: Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Samantha perfectly fitted in the given roles. Three of them did cent percent justice to the characters with their performances.
Vijay Sethupathi moulded himself nicely for the given class role, Nayanthara and Samantha just steal the show with their magnificent screen presence. While Nayan did her homely role nicely, Samantha attracts with her glamorous avatar.
As most of the film runs between the lead actors, the film has no scope for other actors but still, the artists who did supporting roles gave a decent performance.
Technicalities: Anirudh Ravichandran’s music is one of the plus points of the movie. While most of the songs are situational and audible on-screen, one mass song between the trio will be loved by the masses.
The photography work by SR Kathir is superb as he presented the entire film with a colourful texture Editing by A Sreekar Prasad is okay but could have been even better if a couple of slow-paced scenes in the first half could have been trimmed.
Production values for this star-studded film are decent.
Analysis: Director Vignesh Shivn’s idea of making s light-hearted love drama by picking a triangle love story theme is good but he could have worked more on presenting the proceedings on a gripping note.
The entire first half of the film runs on a dull with slow-paced narration which is a minus for the movie. If Vignesh Sivan would have focused on presenting the first half establishment scenes with the lead cast in a better way, the result would have been much better.
To summerize, Kanmani Rambo Khatija is a rom-com drama that has good performance from the lead cast and a decent second half. On the flip side, the routine template scenes and scene order in the first half of the film come as a demerit for this triangle love story.
