Kangana Ranaut Reveals she Learnt a lot from the Sets of ‘Emergency’

Kangana Ranaut has shared all she discovered while filming the political drama Emergency, which will be released soon.

Kangana Ranaut, an actress-turned-director-turned-producer who will soon release her next film, “Emergency,” said that making the movie helped her gain a better understanding of contemporary Indian history.

Kangana portrays former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the movie “Emergency,” which chronicles the events of the state of emergency that Gandhi proclaimed in 1975 and is regarded as one of the worst eras in Independent India because all civil rights, including press freedom, were restricted during this time.

Talking about the same Kangana shared: “Through the course of filming ‘Emergency’, learning about the events that unfolded in 1975 gave me a deeper understanding of Indian history. People call it the darkest phase in Indian history, but a lot of people don’t understand why Indira ji made that decision. With the film, I aspire to bring that side of the story out too. I am sure, a lot of people will view those events in a different light after watching the film.”

The late Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, and Milind Soman all play significant roles in the movie.

‘Emergency’ is produced and directed by Kangana Ranaut and contains a script by Ritesh Shah in addition to her own story. It is a Manikarnika Films production. The movie will premiere on November 24, 2023.
