Kamal Haasan Begins Political Journey

Veteran actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam party leader Kamal Haasan took oath in Tamil as a Rajya Sabha MP on July 25, officially beginning his political journey.

Before taking the oath, he said, “I am going to register my name. I will do my duty as an Indian”. He was elected unopposed in June with the support of the DMK-led alliance.

Ahead of his swearing-in Kamal met Rajinikanth at the latter’s residence. Photos from their meeting quickly went viral creating a buzz among fans.

Despite his political commitments Kamal remains active in the film industry. His recent film Thug Life received negative talk everywhere.

Kamal’s next project KH 237 starts shooting in August. Featuring Kalyani Priyadarshan in a key role, the action packed film is expected to blend politics with a gripping storyline.
