Along with Bollywood films Isha Koppikar also acted in South Indian cinema including the Telugu film Chandralekha starring Nagarjuna.
In a recent interview Isha recalled an intense experience while shooting for the film. She shared that during the shoot of an emotional scene, she struggled to express anger convincingly.
Wanting to deliver a genuine performance she asked Nagarjuna to slap her for real. “He was shocked and asked, ‘Are you sure?’ but I insisted”, she said with a laugh. To stay in character, she took not one but 14 real slaps during the shoot.
By the end, she had visible marks on her face. “I literally had slap marks,” she recalled.
Isha added that Nagarjuna felt guilty afterward, but she was happy with the authenticity it brought to the scene.
