No, we don’t have any information or even intend on questioning the makers on Agnyathavasi. This is a question posed by many netizens after Jerome Salle, the director of French movie, Largo Winch, expressed a curiosity regarding the movie on Twitter. The director, tweeted,
“I think I’m gonna buy a ticket (plane first than movie) #Curiosity #Agnyaathavaasi #LargoWinch
Pawan Kalyan’s Agnyaathavaasi in copyright row: T-Series seeks explanation on plagiarism of Largo Winch “
This tweet has exploded on Telugu Twitter with fans of Pawan Kalyan trying to defend the film is not plagiarised while other actors fans are quoting it and making fun of the originality of the film. Trivikram Srinivas is known for using ideas from other languages films in his stories and present them in his own style. His last film, A..Aa, is a retelling of old film inspired from novel, Meena and director clarified that he took permission to use source material from the original writer of the novel, Yeddanapudi Sulochana Rani.
Now, Heir Apparent/ Largo Winch that released in 2008, has come into question as it has similarities with Agnyathavasi. The teaser showcased elements of story that indicates the film has a similar storyline to Largo Winch. As it gets into spoiler zone, we won’t reveal much but the director has just expressed his curiosity but did not say he gave permission to use his storyline or even T-Series, the original rights holder did not claim it is completely plagiarised. If the storyline is inspired from the French film, then it won’t be called a copy as getting inspired doesn’t come under violation of copyright laws.
