Director Shankar, who was busy helming his big-budget flick Indian 2, was devastated to know that three of his assistants had died on the spot when a crane crashed on them. The entire team of Indian 2 were shooting a fight sequence at a set erected at the EVP Studios in Poonamallee. In relation to the horrific accident, the CBI officials had summoned director Shankar and actor Kamal Haasan. On February 27, Shankar appeared in front of the CBI and he was questioned by them for more than two hours regarding the happenings of the horrific night. The details of the session is yet to be revealed.
The filmmaker also released a press statement and announced a compensation of Rs 1 crore from his side. He further added that he is devastated and is struggling to come to terms with the loss of three lives under his supervision. Shankar, Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal and their stylists had a narrow escape as they were only a few meters away from the crash site. Shankar took to Twitter to reveal that he is having sleepless nights and he could only remember the cries of the family of the deceased members.
