Ilaiyaraaja Loses Rights Claim As Court Rules In Favor Of Saregama

The film Agathiya directed by Pa. Vijay stars Jiiva, Raashi Khanna, and Arjun with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The movie is set to release on Feb 28th and features a remix of the song “En Iniya Pon Nilave” originally composed by Ilaiyaraaja.

However Saregama Audio filed a case against the film producers in the Delhi High Court saying they had exclusive rights to the song.

After reviewing the case the court ruled that Agathiya can use the song only if the producers pay Rs. 30 lakh. The court also confirmed that Saregama owns the song rights not Ilaiyaraaja.

Film producers argued that they got permission from Ilaiyaraaja but the court sided with Saregama after checking the evidence.
