Huma Qureshi’s Father Serves Tarla Dalal’s Iconic Dish at His Restaurant Ahead of Tarla’s Release !

In his renowned restaurant, Tarla Dalal’s father, Huma Qureshi, has introduced a new vegetarian dish.

The new biography “Tarla,” starring actress Huma Qureshi as the wildly popular chief Tarla Dalal, comes from a family of foodies. In 1977, her father opened his first eatery, Saleem’s.

Although Saleem’s is generally a non-vegetarian establishment, Huma’s father has added a unique new vegetarian dish called Batata Musallam as a tribute to Tarla’s artistic brilliance and in honour of Huma’s impending biopic.

The story of Tarla Dalal and Saleem’s began back in the 1970s, according to Huma Qureshi, who was speaking about the link she was able to make between the restaurant and the late chef. “Looking at these two worlds come together today, 50 years later, fills my heart with pride,” she said.

She further mentioned: “After watching the trailer, my dad decided to take inspiration from Tarla Ji and introduce her popular dish Batata Musallam at Saleem’s. The power of food and how it brings communities together is one of the most beautiful things about India.”

Due to her own vegetarian upbringing, the late Tarla Dalal was well renowned for turning well-known non-vegetarian meals into vegetarian ones. For instance, she invented Batata Musallam, a dish modelled after Murgh Musallam, but with potato in place of the original dish’s meat.

Huma visited her father’s restaurant with co-star Sharib Hashmi while promoting her movie in Delhi so they could sample her father’s Batata Musallam.

“Tarla” is a slice-of-life movie on one of India’s most famous home cooks, Tarla Dalal, who was the first woman to have a cookbook and cooking programme of her own and the only Indian to be awarded the Padma Shri for her contributions to the culinary arts.

On July 7, ZEE5 will debut the movie Tarla Dala, which stars Huma Qureshi.
