Tollywood was home to some of the best multistarrer blockbusters back in the day. Legends like NTR and ANR teamed up together on a regular basis, which resulted in phenomenal movies. NTR and Krishna too featured in several movies later on.
However, Tollywood slowly moved out of that zone, and as it grew into being a commercially driven film industry, multistarrers slowly started to fade away and eventually became non-existent. The first multistarrer in Tollywood, after decades together, was the Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh starrer Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu.
Several other multistarrers were made after SVSC, and while some fared well, some didn’t so much. Once again, multistarrers have become scarce in Tollywood, with the exception of the upcoming RRR, with NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles, and the remake of Ayyappanum Koshium, with Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati in the lead roles. Actors and fans alike are not much inclined towards multistarrers, as there would be a lot of expectations on the film, which sometimes turns out to be bad for the film, and fans usually get disappointed to see a decreased screen time for their favourite hero, which sets into motion a new set of problems. It is now to be seen if there would be any more multistarrers in the future, in Telugu.
