Directed by Prabhu, the film was made with a limited budget of about Rs 3 crore and collected close to Rs 15 crore at the box office. As per Tamil media reports, the film is one of the biggest hits in the small budget films category.
Directed by PS Mithran, Irumbu Thirai is an action thriller that revolves around a burning issue in society. Starring Vishal, Arjun Sarja and Samantha in prominent roles, the film was made with a tight budget of Rs 14 crore and collected more than Rs 60 crore at the box office.
Starring Nayanthara, Yogi Babu, Saranya Ponvannan among others in prominent roles, Kolamavu Kokila is a crime thriller directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. As per the Kollywood reports, the film was made with a budget of Rs 3 crore and went on to collect more than Rs 43 crore gross at the box office.
Touted as a mature romantic drama, 96′ stars Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in the lead roles. Directed by C Premkumar, the film also has Gouri G Kishan, Devadarshini Chetan in the supporting roles. As per the inside reports, made with a limited budget, the film collected more than Rs 55 crore gross at the ticket windows.
Directed by Ram Kumar, Ratsasan is a psychological thriller. Starring Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul in the lead roles, the film was made on a tight budget and went on to collect more than Rs 20 crore at the box office. Later, the film was remade in Telugu with young hero Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas.

Starring Mammootty, Anjali, Baby Sadhana, Samuthirakani among others in pivotal roles, Peranbu is an emotional family drama. Directed by Ram, the film was made with a budget of Rs 4 crore and collected more than Rs 35 crore at the box office.
Directed by H Vinoth, Theeram Adhigaaram Ondru is an intense cop drama. Starring Karthi and Rakul Preet Singh as the lead pair, the film was made with a limited budget and collected more than Rs 55 crore at the box office. The film had a simultaneous release in Telugu as Khakee and collected revenues at the box office.
