Power Star Pawan Kalyan has acted in many remake films throughout his career. He intends to take good stories from any language and present them to Telugu audiences. This approach has led to big hits like “Kushi” and “Gabbar Singh”. While some of his remakes have been super successful, others did not do well. Let’s look at some of the remakes Pawan Kalyan missed out on:
Neram:
The hit Malayalam film Neram was supposed to be remade by Sri Surya Movies with the title Cheppalani Yorta. However, the project was halted midway. Later, the same story was remade by Ramoji Rao and directed by K. Vijaya Bhaskar as NuvveVavali, and it became a huge success.
Appu:
Director Puri Jagannadh wanted to remake the Kannada film “Appu” with Pawan Kalyan. However, when Pawan Kalyan declined, the remake was done with Ravi Teja and titled “Idiot”. This version also became a big hit. Puri Jagannadh was the director of the original “Appu”.
Sethu:
Pawan Kalyan wanted to remake the Tamil film “Sethu”. However, Jivita Rajasekhar acquired the remake rights first, so the project was dropped. The film was eventually remade as “Seshu”, but it was a flop.
Ghajini:
The remake rights for this movie were purchased by Geeta Arts, and they wanted Pawan Kalyan to star in it. However, Pawan declined the offer, believing it wouldn’t suit his image.
Kaththi:
Sri Surya Movies wanted to remake “Kaththi” in Telugu with Pawan Kalyan, which is why the Telugu version wasn’t released initially. However, when Pawan’s plans changed, the project was put on hold. Eventually, the film was remade as “Khaidi No. 150” with Chiranjeevi and director VV Vinayak.
Dabangg 2:
The remake of “Dabangg” as “Gabbar Singh” was a huge hit. Some producers later considered remaking “Dabangg 2” with Pawan Kalyan, but he did not show interest. Instead, Pawan Kalyan created “Sardaar Gabbar Singh” with a new storyline, which turned out to be a disaster.
Vikram Vedha:
Many producers attempted to remake this Tamil hit movie in Telugu with various heroes. At one point, there were reports that Pawan Kalyan and Ravi Teja were being considered for the remake. However, Pawan Kalyan declined the offer.
Driving License:
There were plans to remake this hit Malayalam movie in Telugu, with Pawan Kalyan in the role played by Prithviraj Sukumaran. However, the project did not move forward for unspecified reasons.
YennaiArindhaal:
Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, this film was dubbed as “Enthavadugani”. Both Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan considered remaking the film. A remake script was prepared for Pawan Kalyan with several directors, but it didn’t work out.
Oh My God 2:
There were attempts by some directors to remake this Bollywood film, which starred Akshay Kumar, in Telugu with Pawan Kalyan. However, due to Pawan Kalyan’s busy schedule, the project did not move forward.
Vedalam:
Producer AM Rathnam attempted to remake this Tamil blockbuster with Pawan Kalyan, but the project never progressed. Later, Chiranjeevi starred in the remake, titled “Bhola Shankar”. Released last year, the film turned out to be a major flop.
