Venkatesh Daggubati is known for his unique decisions while selecting a script for his film and mix it up with different genres. Recently, he played the role of a middle class father of two kids in his films, Drishyam and Gopala Gopala. He is only hero who has been part of two multi starrers with the biggest stars of this generation, Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan. In 2016, he planned to release two films one being Babu Bangaram and the second one, remake of Irudhi Suttru directed by same director Sudha Kongara. The movie starring Madhavan and Ritika portrayed a mentor and seeker relationship in an unique way, becoming critical and commercial success in Hindi and Tamil.
The movie was first planned to be directed by Sudha herself in Telugu with Venkatesh but while preparing for the role he had a muscle spasm and passed on the good script to others. Sudha found great support in Madhavan and he took it to Hindi as well. After the release YNot Studios approached Venkatesh with an idea to remake it in Telugu and the actor accepted the offer. He prepared his body to look like a boxer for 9 months and started the shoot in October. The movie was originally planned for a Christmas release this December, even though the movie is ready the producers are thinking about the ideal time to release.
They are trying to release it for Republic Day weekend or in March. Since Singam 3/ Yamudu 3 has been postponed and announced for Republic Day date, the makers are looking for other possible date. Meanwhile, the movie was made on a controlled budget as it is a kind of experiment. The makers were mindful of it being not lapped up by all the classes of audience so made it on a budget of 12 crores. They sold the theatrical rights of each and every area, that is, both the Telugu states and overseas as well for resonable prices. Recently they have closed deal on satellite rights with Gemini TV for 5 crores and with this the makers have officially entered profit zone and are expecting the movie to work big time with general audience as well.
