Govt Calls Tamannaah’s Selection A Professional Move

It is a common practice for state governments to appoint popular actors as brand ambassadors for different sectors. Earlier Samantha served as the brand ambassador for Telangana handlooms.

Recently the Karnataka government appointed Tamannaah as the brand ambassador for Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited which produces Mysore Sandal Soap.

However the decision sparked political debate. Some people raised why a Kannada actress was not chosen especially during a time when there is strong focus on promoting the Kannada language.

Few social media users also criticized the government for spending Rs. 6.2 crore on a non-Kannada actress.

The Karnataka government defended the move, saying it was a professional decision and that Tamannaah’s nationwide popularity would help improve the brand’s visibility and growth.
