Actor and producer Shweta Tripathi is stepping into the horror genre with her new film Nava, made under her banner Bandarful Films along with Kowatanda Films India.
This is her second production after the queer drama Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan, showing her interest in supporting bold and unique stories.
Nava is set in the mysterious and beautiful Sundarbans. The story follows Tara, who returns to her ancestral home and gets caught in an old and scary mystery involving river gods, hidden family secrets and myths that still affect the present. Written by Akash Mohimen, the film mixes folklore, fear and emotions.
Shweta says Nava is very special to her because it allowed her to explore a new world of storytelling. She believes horror connected with culture can touch people deeply.
She also feels the Sundarbans plays a strong role in the story. With Nava, Shweta aims to support creative, meaningful, and risk-taking Indian stories.
