Delhi High Court’s Strong Take On Janhvi Kapoor

Janhvi Kapoor has approached the Delhi H.C seeking protection against the misuse of her name, image and identity online.

Her plea includes obscene content, AI-generated material, fake accounts, impersonation and other unauthorised uses. During the hearing, the court questioned her request to restrict fan pages.

Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani reportedly said that actors cannot stop people from creating fan pages, as fans may praise, discuss or even criticise them.

However the court was willing to take action against obscene and pornographic content that misuses Janhvi’s identity. Her plea covers more than 5,000 webpages and social media posts including allegedly pornographic AI-generated content.

This case highlights the need to protect celebrities from online abuse without restricting much genuine fan activity and public expression.
