Deepika Padukone’s New Work Formula

Deepika Padukone recently sparked a big discussion about working hours in the film industry. After becoming a mother and planning her return, she began signing new projects.

When director Sandeep Reddy Vanga approached her for “Spirit” she reportedly insisted on an 8 hour workday. Because of this, Vanga decided not to cast her and the issue quickly turned into a wider debate.

Some people supported Deepika, saying new mothers need reasonable working hours. Others argued that filmmaking is not a normal office job and that fixed hours are difficult in creative fields.

In a recent interview Deepika stood by her view, saying the film industry should also follow an 8 hour workday.

She explained that good sleep, regular exercise and healthy food are essential for everyone and these should never be compromised. She added that production houses must plan schedules around fixed working hours.
