Dadasaheb Phalke known as the father of Indian cinema, made India’s first full-length feature film, Raja Harishchandra.
Now, two biopics about his life are making headlines. A Bollywood media report stated that Jr NTR has agreed to play Phalke in a biopic produced by SS Karthikeya and Varun Gupta, and presented by SS Rajamouli.
This created massive buzz among fans. However by afternoon, Aamir Khan revealed that he is already working on a similar project based on Phalke’s life.
This version will be directed by renowned filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, and filming is expected to start in October.
With two big names attached to different versions of the same story, it’s unclear if both films will move forward.
There’s already a National Award-winning Marathi film, Harishchandrachi Factory, which beautifully told Phalke’s story. It will be interesting to see which version hits the screens and how they bring Phalke’s legacy to life.
