The Chennai High Court has rejected Netflix’s request to dismiss a case related to actress Nayanthara‘s wedding documentary. The case was filed by actor Dhanush.
Netflix had asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit, which involves legal issues regarding the streaming rights of Nayanthara’s wedding documentary. However, the court ruled against Netflix, allowing the case to continue.
Dhanush case is about the use of footage from his film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in the documentary, without his permission. He is asking for Rs. 10 crore in damages for this alleged violation.
In response, Nayanthara criticized Dhanush, accusing him of holding personal grudges from their past work together. She also expressed disappointment that he refused to grant a NOC for the footage, despite her attempts over two years.
Nayanthara pointed out that the disputed clip was just a short, three-second behind-the-scenes shot. This decision adds another chapter to the ongoing legal battle involving key figures in the Tamil film industry, with more updates expected soon.
Madras high court on Tuesday dismissed OTT platform Netflix’s application seeking to reject actor Dhanush’s copyright infringement suit against actor Nayanthara in connection with the dispute over documentary drama ‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale’.
